Here’s a relatively comprehensive list of various literary events and activities happening throughout the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Needless to say, we’re doing the best we can, we can’t get everything, and the best way to stay informed is to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and take advantage of other resources.
LOCAL LITERARY RESOURCES
The best way to stay aware and informed of literary events going on here in the Valley is to join the Phoenix Poetry Events group on Facebook (administrated by Aaron Johnson and Bob Nelson). The Arizona State Poetry Society (run by President Carol Christy White) also sends a missive out at the beginning of every month that is extremely helpful. Changing Hands Bookstore and Lawn Gnome Publishing host a ton of events. Hermitag/e is another group to be aware of, too. It’s also worth noting that the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Phoenix Art Museum, and The Shemer Art Center and Museum have all collaborated with authors in the past and are good people to check in with from time to time as well.
LOCAL CULTURAL RESOURCES
More generally speaking, we might also recommend: joining PHX Downtown facebook; following Tempe Starving Artist and Grand Avenue; subscribing to the Downtown Phoenix Journal and Roosevelt Row Newsletter; reading the Phoenix New Times, JAVA, Localrevibe, YabYum Music and Arts, Things to Do in Phoenix, Between the Peaks Phoenix, and Valley Hype; visiting Welcome to Phoenix; tuning into Radio Phoenix; and, for music, Silver Platter. We might also encourage you to peruse our likes and follows on our social media profiles too.
